Average cost of liposuction in Malaysia
Based on our analysis of prices from eight clinics, liposuction in Malaysia is currently quoted from RM5,000 to RM32,000.
On average, typical costs ranges from RM8,239 to RM18,382.
These figures are based on numbers from plastic surgery clinics listed on Google and WhatClinic, and here are our sources if you want to check first-hand:
- Liposuction prices in Malaysia (via Google)
- Liposuction prices in Malaysia (via WhatClinic)
We’d love to include more but many clinics are rather secretive with pricing.
Now, while a low-end estimate helps, the high-end doesn’t say much as liposuction can cost much more than RM32,000!
What would really help is a breakdown of liposuction cost per body part.
Liposuction prices by body part (back)
Unfortunately, most clinics don’t even disclose general liposuction fees, let alone price per body part – but we’ve done what we could.
The table below combines prices from the two plastic surgeons we found that shared their liposuction prices for body parts.
Body Part | Lowest Price (RM) | Highest Price (RM) | Average Price (RM) |
Thigh | 7,500 | 30,000 | 16,250 |
Arms | 7,500 | 20,000 | 13,750 |
Abdominal Etching | 9,000 | 30,000 | 15,000 |
Back | 20,000 | 30,000 | 25,000 |
Stomach | 9,000 | 30,000 | 15,000 |
Buttocks | 20,000 | 20,000 | 20,000 |
Chin | 4,500 | 9,500 | 7,000 |
Note: We could have missed sources while doing research, so if you see prices lower or higher than our figures, let us know!
Dr Soma’s liposuction price list (back)
Before we show our price list, here’s what you must know about liposuction with Dr Soma:
- regardless of body part, procedures start at RM20,000
- operations are carried out at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre, and
- patients receive up to six months of follow up care and consultation
Now, here’s a price list of common body parts for liposuction, our estimated fees, and the maximum safe fat removal limit for each area.
Body Part | Fee Estimate (RM) | Maximum Removable Volume of Fat (litres) |
Thigh | 20,000-30,0000 | 2 – 5 |
Arms | 20,000 | 1 – 3 |
Abdominal Etching | 20,000-30,0000 | 1 – 6 |
Back | 20,000-30,0000 | 1 – 5 |
Stomach | 20,000-30,0000 | 2 – 6 |
Buttocks | 20,000 | 1 – 3 |
Most immediately ask why so expensive, and we’ve got two good reasons!
Firstly, six months post-operation is when most patients have fully recovered.
However, until then, check-ins with the surgeon are important to watch for complications both physical and emotional, and these potentially daily appointments are built into our pricing.
Secondly and crucially, all our procedures are performed in state-of-the-art operating theatres at Subang Jaya Medical Centre.
This comes at a premium but you receive the highest level of care in a clean, private hospital, equipped with top-grade technology and supported by skilled nurses and anesthesiologists.
5 factors affecting liposuction cost (back)
What ultimately drives the cost of any operation are:
- Total time taken
- Complexity of procedure
- Level of expertise
So when we say something raises the final cost, it means one way or another, it increases the time a procedure takes, the overall complexity, or the level of expertise.
Many factors affect these, but here there are five major ones:
1. Body parts treated
Larger areas like the abdomen or thighs may cost more than smaller areas like the chin or arms due to the amount of fat to be removed and the time required for the procedure.
2. Amount of fat to be removed
The more fat that needs to be removed, the longer the procedure will take, and the more resources will be needed. Extreme cases can even involve additional manpower and equipment.
3. Surgeon’s experience
As with any industry, experienced and skilled surgeons generally charge more as they have a proven track record of delivering results and as a result are in greater demand.
4. Clinic vs hospital operating room fees
The cost of anesthesia, as well as the use of the operating room and other medical support services, is often factored into the total cost of liposuction.
5. Additional procedures or combined treatments
If liposuction is performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as tummy tucks, body lifts, or fat transfers, the complexity of multiple treatments will cause the final cost to increase.
